IT STARTED WITH A PUP NAMED POGO

In 2019, Pogo, a blind pit bull, faced the challenge of finding a forever home due to her breed and special needs . She was adopted by Renee Harlor, co-founder of Misty Eyes Animal Center, who brings extensive experience in the animal welfare community. Harlor was motivated by the issue in Central Indiana, where overcrowded shelters are turning away dogs. Pit Bulls and those with special needs are at the highest risk of euthanasia. “Pogo was one of the fortunate ones, but countless healthy dogs face the same fate each year,” Harlor explained. Driven by this urgent need, she established Pogo's Project in an effort to make a difference.

THE PLAN

Shelters and rescues in Central Indiana are over capacity.  Dogs are being left on the streets and healthy dogs and puppies are being euthanized.  Enter some stats.

OUR MISSION

We are dedicated to helping change the future and save the lives of at risk dogs in Central Indiana.  We define at risk dogs as those facing surrender, seniors and special needs dogs living in shelters and Pit Bulls.

We will assist senior citizens in keeping their pets in their homes, as well as promote special needs and senior dogs and advocate for pit bulls. By offering practical assistance, comprehensive education, and proactive community engagement, we aim to create a supportive environment where every pet can stay in their loving home and all animals are valued and respected."
